Dwarf Pioneer Bean is a stringless dwarf flat bean variety that doesn't require staking and has good disease resistance. Produces heavy, good tasting crops with long, fleshy pods. Recommended for successive sowings from early to late season. Half-hardy annual that grows to a height of 50-60cm.
Sow Dwarf Pioneer Bean seeds 20mm deep in dark damp soil and avoid watering for a day or two afterwards. Ensure soil has been well prepared with organic compost and aged animal manure.
Sow 7-10cm apart, allowing 50cm between rows. Ensure the danger of frost has passed and protect plants from the wind. Plant seeds in 3-5m rows and remove weeds regularly.
Water regularly. Additional fertilising is not required as legumes produce their own nitrogen. Plant in Spring and Summer; Autumn too in warmer zones
