Catgrass is a perennial grass growing up to 30cm tall. It has slender greygreen leaves and a flowering stem with a typical flat stem base. A group of green or purplish flower bunches form atop the stem with pronounced loose cream pollen pods.
It is easy to maintain provided it has well drained soil and full sun. For best results leave plenty of space for it to expand. This grass is sweeter than most grasses and is therefore a favourite for cats to chew on. It provides good nutrition and helps remove fur balls. Several butterflies feed on its pollen, it's good for grazing, and can cause allergies.
