Chilli Jalapeño are a classic Mexican and TexMex snacking variety. Mostly used green, although they get a little sweeter as they turn red. Rated at 3,000-8,000 Scoville heat units, Jalapeños are quite mild compared with other chillis, so they are ideal for anyone wary of spicy flavours! Delicious as an everyday chilli, pickled, or smoked to make chipotles. The compact, attractive bush produces an abundant crop over a long period.
Choose a sunny, well-drained position. Frequent picking encourages more fruit. Begin picking when green, or for hotter taste, harvest when red. Great companion plant for basil, marjoram and parsley.
