Carrot Chantenay Red Cored value pack contains a full 15g of seeds for those who have a larger-than-usual garden, or who prefer to buy their seed in the traditional way. Chantenay Red Cored is a first class, early maturing maincrop variety which produces stump rooted, richly coloured carrots. It has a fine texture and keeps well. Grows well in an open position on light, rich soil which has not been recently manured.
Sow seeds into friable and well-draining soil. Ensure any small stones or obstructions in the soil have been removed. Ensure soil has limited amount of nutrients; particularly nitrogen as this may cause the carrots to fork.
Sow seeds 6mm deep in rows 30cm apart. Keep moist. Thin out to 10cm apart and water well to replace any soil dislodged from roots.
Repeat every two weeks for continuous crops.
Plant in winter through to autumn
