I’m always looking out for decorations for my Scandi tree and when I saw these in a gift shop I had to have a go at making them. They are a version of what I saw, a little more simplistic but still effective all the same and a whole lot easier to make.
You will need:
-Some light card
-A little wire (aluminium works best)
-Some fine wire or thread for hanging
Instructions:
Step 1:
You will need to design a tree template. There are a lot of versions available to copy online or freehand your own. Make it curvy or straight, the choice is up to you and it will have the same effect either way. You could make other designs too, a bell, angel or snow flake perhaps.
Step 2:
Double over your card so you don’t have to cut each tree individually. Use scissors to cut around the template or trace and cut if it’s easier for you. Cut as many as you like to create the trees 3D texture, I used 8 altogether. Use a blunt knife and a ruler to make a tidy crease and fold each tree down its centre.
Step 3:
Use a hole punch in 2 places down the fold and make sure they are in the same place on each tree. Cut a small amount of wire and thread it through the holes then bend it around until it meets itself. You may need a pair of pliers if your wire isn’t soft enough.
Step 4:
I found the easiest way to hang this guy was to thread a needle through each tree at the tip and then thread some thin wire through. Hang on the tree or anywhere else you might have a hook or knob that needs adorning.
